Amazing loving people who care when I didn't care for myself. I have been there a few times and each time they treat me with respect and dignity. They have a will balanced program with amazing people..I really can't say enough about them

My first time going to the serenity house was in 2003. I had just done 3 years in jail. I went through the program on auto pilot. I didnt really care I just wanted to do the required 2 weeks that the sober house I was going to wanted. I stayed sober for a little over 7 months after. Then I went right back to it again. During the next 15 years i spent more time in and out of jail. There were 5 good years in there also. Then my world came crashing down on me and i gave up on life. I ended up going back to jail yet again for the better part of a year. When i got out i told myself that i was going to stay sober. Well, that didnt go as planned at all. Eventually I was on the path back to jail. I started thinking about all that I lost and gave up just to get high. I was tired physically and mentally. With the help of my probation officer and some really good friends I found my way back to treatment at serenity house. The staff there are caring. Most of them suffer from the same disease that anyone who goes there does. The thing that I liked the most was that even though the staff there is caring, they are stern and non wavering. When people go into treatment they dont need to be treated with kid gloves and have everything sugar coated. They need the facts about their addiction. Being an active addict us an everyday life or death situation. The staff at the serenity house know this and they push that fact every day. For myself it was what I needed. Since leaving there in july of 2017, my life has been amazing. I am doing better than I have ever done in life. People actually come to me and ask for direction and help. I keep what I have now by sharing and helping other addicts. I always make it a point to remember that I am no better than the addict who still uses. I make conscious choices every single day that keep me clean and sober. As for the people out their who blame serenity house for the death of their loved ones, I am very sorry for the loss that you have endured. At the same time it is not nor will it ever be serenity houses fault. Your loved ones were like the rest of us. They were addicts battling a horrible disease. Unfortunately the choices they made after leaving the serenity house led to their passings. I understand the frustration that one might feel during a time of loss, but at no time could the serenity house have been responsible. If there is anyone who is looking for treatment and a new way of life, call the serenity house and get the ball rolling on a bigger and better way of life.

My first time ever attending here at Serenity House, Grace House, saved my life. I had no idea what I was walking into. When I walked through their doors, I was very nervous and deff wasn't expecting to jump right in by going to groups, I didn't even get myself settled in. I wanted nothing more then to be sober, I didn't want to be a drug addicted, i was so angry with myself, hated my life, I wanted to kill myself. So when I first walked through those doors, for once in my life I excepted change, I excepted to hand my life over to something higher then myself. I did. When people go into Rehab you don't expect them to do much unless they really wanted it. And I did. I did it. I asked for these amazing packets that they have us to do while we are they to help us understand our needs. I went through mine and understood all of them so I asked for more and more. When I left I completed 26 packets. I graduated August 14th 2017. I didn't know I could do it, I did, and I am now 105 days sober
